MISSION BAY CRIT 2013

image

Last Saturday Night, locals met in the Mission Bay neighborhood for an open course fixed crit race organized by Crihs. Enclosed is a report from the night. We look forward to adding these races to the annual calendar here in the city.

Racers met at the waters edge, and waited for the sun to set before moving a few blocks west to the race start.

Chas has logged a ton of miles on his prototype.

We love when the women are racing with the men. Veronica put in a good show on this night.

Chris rides a really nice LOW set-up with Cinelli Intergralters, and a steel fork. Cannondale track inspired aluminum/steel combonation.

As night fell, the group met for a rider meeting. The USF campus ended up being a perfect location for the event. Low traffic on a Saturday evening.

The field was a mix of veterans, and younger riders. With 25 in total, it would show to be a great street event.

The next generation!

The course was all open roads with low to no traffic. USF built city blocks in Mission Bay over the past seven years offering quiet roads in this office/lab complex.

Large dark sections linked the street lights.

Crihs put together a really great event. The 27 lap course was technical, on open streets, with a mix of new roads as well as sections under construction. This did not affect top speeds, as racers topped 30mph on the straights.

A technical system counted down laps to go.

Dylan picked up my second camera body, and captured some of the moments in this set. Thanks for pointing!

Kyle, Chas, and Marc shared responsibilities that come with the three person break.

Marc raced on the road earlier in the day and won, getting his upgrade. He is in great form this season, and is a contender.

Kyle has a fan!

It was Kyle, Chas and Marc seeing this last lap through. Kell, Anton, and Dave lead the chase group.
