Joe’s Clips

Before ebay, before every brand on the planet was looking to develop fixed gear parts for the street, It was the messengers that taught us all what parts break, and what does not. The hunt for these part was as much fun as the time spent enjoying them.

Everyone has their Holy Grail of rare or hard to find bike parts. For some it’s a classic steel steal, but for me it was a $5 pair of plastic toe clips.

Joe’s Clips were made in the early 90’s for of era mountain bikes. Designed to hold up to three single straps, these nylon clips were made to keep your foot in the clip with street shoes. The modern street fixed universe still looks for this same function in our pedals. Taiwan stepped to the plate and made generics that everyone has rebranded as their own. This is good for the riders, but killed the hunt for Joe’s.

Yesterday my search ended at Trips for kids in San Rafael. It makes sense these would be found in marin. This Seven year hunt has come to a close, and look forward to lacing these up for the next seven years of adventures.
