Fixed Tour Notes : Matt / Dylan

No one really told us how to tour. We kind of winged it. We talked to friends, but it ended up being one of those experiences that you have to do yourself. Matt and I both learned pretty quickly, sitting in the saddle pushing fixed over mountains. You figure out what stays and what goes, whats right and whats wrong, etc. I think the more interesting part of tour is how time changes. Out there you schedule things by days. Not by hour or by email. You understand that you will be where you want in a week or so, but not until then. Theres no turning back, and theres no going faster. So it ends up being you, your friend, and your bike, outside on an epic adventure.

I think one of the most interesting aspects of the tour, was the reactions we would get from other people touring. The fact that we were on track bikes with a a backpack full of supplies and thats it. No one could really understand why we were doing what were we’re doing. I don’t even know if we realized what we were doing. But we were committed to finish what we started. Something that few have ever done before.
