CLIPPED

We get asked quite often what Pedal/Shoe combo we like on the street, and dirt. I forwarded a recent request for info from a rider to Chas.

Here is is response:

Stoked that yer into MASH! here my thoughts on clip pedals and funny shoes:

Pretty much any pair of TIMES will do you right.. If you get a pair of the older ones just make sure all the springs are tight.. As far as new pedals the XS is the most bang for your buck.. They have adjustable float ( I turn mine to the tightest setting right off the bat) and they are tough ( had the same pair for going on 3 years) the nicer pedals just weigh less.. The bottom line to TIME pedals is the cleats .. You can mount them on the shoes two ways.. One makes it easier to clip out and one doesn’t .. Make sure you read about it before you mount them and put them on so it’s harder to clip out.. And make sure you cleats are in good condition.. The only time I’ve ever clipped out is with worn down cleats ..

Alot of people had alot to say about different pedals.. Im not  saying TIME is the best , they just work really well for me..

Practice skidding a bit first before you go out and race or bomb the biggest hill you can find..  You have to get used to keeping your heels straight when you skid , just keeping your feet in the right position so you don’t un clip..

Sidi’s are definitely really rad shoes but ride what ever is comfartable for your feet (and you wallet) mavic makes a really rad pair of MTB shoes as well..

Keep the rubber side down
