Advice

Mash Crew,

Myself and my buddy TJ, inspired by your guys valiant effort on the Tour
of California, have decided to take on the Ride to Conquer Cancer. A
two-day ride from Vancouver BC (Canada) to Seattle Washington (USA), and
we are going to do it fixed on the track bikes we ride everyday. The ride
is a huge cancer fundraiser and it takes place all over but since we live
in Victoria BC on Vancouver Island its the closest ride to us.

Just looking for any tips you guys might have picked up during the tour of
california.

Hey,
I found just having a good gear ratio for what ever that day looked like was necessary. I think all of us had double fixed hubs with two different cogs on them which made for easy gear changes whenever we felt so inclined. Your route doesn’t look like it has much climbing though so you should be fine. I don’t think there is much track bike specific advice that I have to give. road drops with hoods are nice, and comfortable having a seat is really important.
have fun,
